My PieceThis image is a screenshot taken from an Instructional Snowboard Maintenance DVD composed by myself for my year 12 major design project. The compilation of this DVD/Guide took place over the course of a year, with most of the filming taking place throughout the North American Alps. It was selected to be exhibited in the powerhouse museum, as it displayed innovative qualities with no other current similar product meeting the needs of the unaware australian snowboard community.
Great Piece of Architecture
This amazing piece of roman architecture was constructed around 70-72 AD. Capable of seating 50,000, it was used for gladiatorial contests and public performances. I visited this enormous monument two years ago and was amazed, by its beauty and gigantic proportions. To this day the colosseum keeps a lively medieval presence, that seems to take you back in time.
Something Beautiful
Snowpark NZ is a man made, freestyle ski and snowboard terrain park, located in South Island, New Zealand. It is a first of its kind and is used as a training ground for professional freestyle skiers and snowboarders from around the world. It is constructed entirely by a combination of earth works and snowmaking. I have been traveling the world snowboarding for the past 4 years pursuing perfect park's and halfpipe's as apart of the Australian Snowboard Halfpipe team, and a training ground as ideal and convenient as this, is truly beautiful.

Fiona HallHavoc, Manufactured, Pollutant
Fiona halls’ artwork ‘Mourning Chorus’ represents 11 of New Zealands extinct, or near extinct native birds. She uses a combination of disposable, plastic, toxic, chemical containers, such as ‘beetle and grub killer’ and cast resin bird beaks as a metaphor for the destruction of the bird species. The title ‘Mourning Chorus’ comes from the once singing, now extinct birds.
Tracey MoffatDevastation, Retch, UncomfortableThis image was composed in a project undertaken by Tracy Moffat in 2000 at the Summer Olympic Games, called the 'fourth' series. This was a series of photographs where Moffat captured images of athletes, who had just placed 4th in their Olympic events. She focuses on their body language and facial expressions to highlight the emotions of the 4th placed athletes, who would generally get overlooked. She highlights these emotions through the use of colour and grain. The athlete she is emphasising, appears in a vibrant colour, while their surroundings are grainy, and in black and white.
